About Australia
Australia is one of the most
beautiful countries In the world with amazing cultural and natural
diversities. It is the only nation to govern an entire continent and
its outlying islands. The mainland, with an area of 7.6 million sq.
k.m., is the largest island and the smallest continent on the earth.
In land area, Australia is the sixth largest nation after Russia,
Canada, China, the United State of America and Brazil. Its
population however, is relatively small at 18.3 million. It has four
distinct seasons per year – summer, autumn, winter and spring.
During summer the temperature varies between 28°
to 35°
C
and in winter it varies between
3°
to 12°
C. The Australian landscape is highly distinctive, raging from vast
stony and sandy deserts and tablelands in the west and the center,
to sweeping plateaus and plains flanking narrow coastal slopes to
the east. While the natural beauty of the country remains largely
intact, in the brief 200 years of European settlement, Australia has
developed into one of the most highly urbanized countries in the
world. Sophisticated cities accommodate world – class shopping,
restaurants, art galleries, museums and cultural festivals.

country provides a safe politically stable and academically
stimulating environment for international students. The educational
institute rank among the world’s best and standard of education is

advanced infrastructure and are continuously in the process of
upgrading their courses to keep the pace with the recent
developments in the respective field and the ever-changing market
demand. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and the
modern hi-tech infrastructure for the research, study and work. The
qualifications are recognized worldwide and graduates are really
accepted as employees in various major organizations.
In spite of providing quality
comparable to the best, the cost of education in Australia is
comparatively much lower to that in UK and USA. Higher education in
Australia provides value for money by offering shorter, more
intensive courses than are available
In other countries thereby
reducing living expenses.

Most of the Universities provide
foundation and bridging courses, which upon Successful completion,
Lead to entry into a Diploma or a Bachelors Degree. Students Who
Score less percentage do a foundation course, which prepares them
academically for their proffered university course; taking subjects
directly related to their course and some basic subjects with
emphasis on he use of computing has an active tool to study in
Australia.
Undergraduate courses lead to
Bachelors Degree and are usually of 3-year duration, except
Engineering, which is of 4 years. Double degrees are also of 4
years. Some courses are of 5 years and include industrial experience
as a part of the curriculum.
Entry Requirement: A good academic
record in Higher Scholl Certificate or 12 years of schooling and
English language proficiency. Some courses such as Computing and
Engineering will require Mathematics and/or Science as

The Postgraduate Courses lead to a
Post Graduate Diploma/Master Degree, duration of which ranges from
1-2 years. In Post Graduate Diplomas, courses are usually designed
to enable students to acquire specific vocational qualification,
through an intensive program of study normally for duration of one
year. Students wanting to do a Masters in field other than their
Bachelors can do a Graduate Diploma and on successful completion,
take the Masters Program.
Can either be taken by Coursework
or by Research? Coursework Masters tend to take less time than
Research Masters. Entry into research programs is difficult and
depends on the availability of faculty and research facilities.
A good academic record in Bachelor
degree from recognized university is necessary. Any work experience
in the field will be helpful. For Most of the MBA programs, students
need to have 2 – 5 years of work experience along with their
Bachelor degree.
PhD is the highest award conferred
by universities and is traditionally a research degree, which can
take up to a minimum of 3 years duration.
If the medium of instruction undertaken by a student is not English,
an intense English language program known as ELICOS (English
Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) can be undertaken.
The duration of such a course would be from 10 – 20 weeks.
Alternatively, Students not scoring good grades in English in their
10th and 12th are required to provide results
of an IELTS test (minimum 5.5 score, not less than 5bands in any
subtest for under graduate and 6.5 bands for post graduate).

What GEC can do for you?
As there are not grading/rating of
universities, Students are advised to go through the program
structure and course content. Reputations are built over a long
period and universities are known for their specific faculties.
Hence a university, which has a good business faculty, need not
necessarily have a good computing faculty.
To start with the Student collect,
various brochures and prospectus for us and do a comparative
analysis of the institutions, vis-à-vis course details, Tuition
fee, standing of the university, etc. Al the information is
available at the GEC International office.
Once you choose your university
and make an application through us, then till the time you procure
your visa, GEC international guides you on each and every step of
the visa procedure.
