IELTS
IELTS, has
The international english Language testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where engish is used as the language of communication. It is recognised widely as a language requirement for all courses in further and higher education.it is readily available at test centers around the world which arrange test administrations according to local demand.
Results are issued two weeks after candidates have taken the test.
Band scores are recorded on a Test Report Form, showing overall ability as well as performance in listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Essentially has no ability to use the language beyond possibly a few isolated words.

Has fully operational command of the language; appropriate, accurate and fluent with complete understanding.

The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES)
The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) was established as a department of the university of Cambridge in 1858 in order to set a stndard of efficiency for schools in England. The Cambridge examinations cover a wide range of academic and vocational subjects and include examinations especially designed for the international market. Examinations in English as a Foreign Language were started at UCLES in 1913, with the Certificate of Proficiency in English (FCE) was introduced in 1939. Other EFL examinations and schemes for Teachers of English as a Foreign Languae (TOEFL) have been added since then, so that UCLES now offers the most comprehensive range of EFL examinations and TEFL schemes with a total annual candidature of over 800,000.
IDP Education Australia : IELTS Australia
IDP is Australia's international education organisation. It undertakes a broad range of activities in international education ranging from student advisory services and educational publications to project consultancy and English language teaching and testing. Australian universities and TAFE institutions are its institutional support base but IDP provides services to a wide variety of Australian education and training institutions and a diverse array of international clients.
IDP participates in IELTS through IELTS Australia Pty Limited, a subsidiary company which is partially owned by Australian universties.
